  LYNDA KAY

Hey, Hey It's Lynda Kay!

The voice of Lynda Kay is "sweet and tough just like a sugar cane." Texas performer Lynda Kay is headed to Louisville, Kentucky for the first annual Cigar Box Guitar Festival with Guitar Man Joshua Piscioneri in their stompin' duo Pearl Handle Pistol (PHP) .   Lynda Kay's  voice and performance style has audaciously been compared to Elvis, Bobbie Gentry, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash.  Although known for putting on a quite a spectacle with her Full Band Live Shows , in PHP Lynda Kay brings it back to basics while she sings, plays Cigfiddle (custom made by Mattie Baratto) & tenor guitar, and keeps time on an old Samsonite suitcase with a double bass drum pedal attached for that special Johnny Cash train beat sound (compliments of The Duallist ), all of which she plays while standing!  A guitar man of many faces and styles in his own right, guitarist Joshua Piscioneri keeps his sound gritty and raw for PHP on his self-engineered Guild and LK's Cigfiddle.  PHP is in the middle of recording their first full length CD called "Lottie & Nell" in the story telling-style of Willie Nelson's "Red Headed Stranger" and is set for release Fall 2004.

On March 23, 2004, Lynda Kay released the new album with her 7-piece band, Lynda Kay & the Lickity Splits called "Cowgirl!" on her independent label Firelight Records.  "Cowgirl!" is receiving airplay on numerous stations in Los Angeles, UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Austin, Texas.  The title track is an autobiographical story about Lynda Kay's upbringing by her super strict, gun toting, father, and how that made her the character she is today-yes, it is all true!  The Lickity Splits consist of a full horn section, guitar, piano, drums, acoustic and electric bass, and background vocals. On her latest release, Lynda Kay is fortunate to have worked with many talented musicians including Phil Moore on all reeds (and co-producer and engineer), Scottie Strecker on trumpet, her buddy Joshua Piscioneri (Tritone, Death House Chaplain, and Pearl Handle Pistol) on all guitars, Nick "The Brick" Scarmack (co-writer/producer) on all drums and percussion, Michael Schnoebelen (The Schnoeb) on electric bass, Larry Muradian (of famed Donovan Muradian Quintet) on acoustic bass, Andrew "The Kid" Dorsett (at 15 and 19) on Rhodes and acoustic piano, Dave Manning (music arranger for "Reefer Madness!" the Movie) on keyboards, and the lovely Andrea Buchanan on background vocals with Lynda Kay.

Most songs on the "Cowgirl!" release were written by Lynda Kay & Nick "The Brick" Scarmack and published under Scarmack Parker Publishing through ASCAP.  Lynda Kay and Nick are fond of infusing music and humor, especially in the live full band shows-- LK&LS get WEIRD!!!    LK's favorite actress is Carol Burnett so usually in the second set of any live show, you can bet LK will come out sporting a wig and costume and perform as Evil Britney, Pierre LeButte, Mora Devoura , MotoHag or all of the above!  At most shows you can expect a surprise character.  Also, listen for Lynda Kay's tap dancing percussion track on the new release of "Mexican Radio" by the band The Death Riders featuring Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Blasko (Rob Zombie), and Jonny "Coffin" Edwards (founder/owner of Coffin Case coming out Summer 2004! Lynda Kay is endorsed by Coffin Case and The Duallist .
